about

Exploding out of the womb, cigarettes and instrumental weapons in hand, Ebony and the Dilemmas release their debut single “Ain’t No Saint”, in the midst of Melbourne's ever changing lockdown laws.

Recorded live within the gritty grimy walls of The Curtin by local Melbourne legend Stive Collins (Live Sound - Didirri), the track captures the bands raw and raggard live energy that Dilemmas are becoming known for. The three D’s; dark, driving and dynamic define the swirling concoction of “Ain’t No Saint”, as singer/songwriter Ebony de Lima humorously explores the themes of alienation, desertion and turbulent relationships, belting out the line “I am the one who will never be named”.

Drawing inspiration from artists like The Cramps, Patti Smith and Nick Cave, Ebony and the Dilemmas explore alternative genres such as Art Rock and Post Punk with droning blues riffs. For someone that “shall not be named”, Ebony and the dilemmas is definitely a name worth knowing.

“Patti Smith meets Bad//Dreems and a touch of Karen O thrown in. A cracker of a song!” - Ted O’neil (Vasco Era)
